What Students Say
I love see the pure joy of my students as they progress, and the special excitement they get as they continue to accomplish what they never thought they could. Most marvelous is the development of their love for music and speaking- all aspects of it. It is because of this love and confidence that they acquire that makes them love their lessons. Of course, I love teaching them as well, and am always grateful to share my expertise. My relationships with my students are precious to me. I really make sure to get to know them as individuals, not just as a job. There is a reason why many of my students stay with me for years, enjoying every lesson while building invaluable skills.

Just the cutest! Teaching two twin sisters on Halloween. They have come such a long way and are now playing Mozart, Beethoven, waltzes and ballets. They love piano. I am so proud of them!
“I am a pediatrician and have insight into the social-emotional and developmental needs of children. We have also worked with many music teachers for my children. I can say without question that Serena has been the singular one who has been a true natural as far as having a sense of what my daughter needs on any given day with the ebbs and flows of a child’s rhythms of life. She has also given my daughter and I voice lessons together-teaching an 8 year old and her mother at the same time is no easy task but she has made it a remarkable journey in growth and self expression and confidence for both of us.
It has been so delightful to watch my daughter enjoy music and gain skills with no pressure and carrying just a pure sense of joy. Serena understands that what children need is not to be achievement oriented but to be joy and present-moment oriented and to remain grounded in their voice and breath and bodies. I feel very lucky we found Serena. My daughter (and I) love learning with her.”

“Serena is a one of a kind teacher. Her intuition is uncanny. I had taken piano lessons as a child but had some bad experiences with my teachers and decided to stop. I had given up on piano playing for years but decided to take a chance with Serena. I am glad I did! I have progressed more within a few months with her than I had ever thought possible. Best of all, it has all been very fun. Sometimes the exercises are challenging but Serena is there with you every step of the way and never lets you get discouraged. Recently we have switched to virtual lessons but I do not feel like anything has been sacrificed. I look forward to my lessons every week.”

“I would like to highly recommend Ms. Serena as a highly qualified music and singing instructor. When my 7 year old daughter wanted to learn how to play piano/keyboard and sing I was hesitant (waste of time and money). Then I received Ms. Serena’s name from a friend. After talking with Ms. Serena and learning about her expertise and experience I was hooked. Then she worked with my daughter and after about five minutes my daughter was hooked. Now anytime my daughter acts up I mention to her no music class this week and she changes her tone very quickly. I appreciate Ms. Serena and the time she spends dropping knowledge on my daughter and all her other students as well! Thanks Ms. Serena you are the greatest!”

A precious moment! My student came out to visit me for the first time since she started virtually with me. We are having a fun time! She is learning three instruments with me: Piano, Voice, and Ukulele, all virtually, and doing so well with all of them! She is a bright and energetic student with so much to offer!
“My son, daughter (ages 9 and 6) and I started virtual family piano lessons with Serena about 2 months ago. Even though we had no prior experience, we are now playing songs, note reading, and are eager to learn more. Serena has made learning to play the piano fun, while offering just the right level of challenge for all of us. We look forward to learning more from Serena.”

“I have been taking lessons with Serena for the past seven months and and what a great seven months it has been.
Her attention to and interest in my personal progress comes through every time we sit down together. One of the great things about taking lessons with Serena is that she wants the experience to be your own. If you want to learn how to play some songs, no problem. If you want to learn more technical and fundamental skills (scales/sight reading/theory/style), she has you covered.
Serena is keen to her students. She is able to understand and willing to try different methods to help in the learning process so that you can reach your goals. Teachers like this can be few and far between. With a humble nature and friendly smile, Serena has not only helped to improve my piano playing skills, but has also helped instill a confidence in me which I can now take forward not only in my piano playing but in life as well.
I am very grateful for her guidance. Thank you so much!”
