Teaching & Learning : What is it really?

Teaching is not telling, and just listening is not learning.

“A mentor is someone who sees more talent and ability within you, than you see in yourself, and helps bring it out of you.” ~ Bob Proctor.

The process of learning is like climbing the stairs to a powerful future of knowledge. Knowledge is what gives you new skills. It is a common myth that a person is either talented, or not. Talent is built upon passion and development. This requires much more than just having someone talk about what to do.

There are steppingstones and milestones. Each footing must be firmly planted before taking the next step. Learning requires development and guidance. No two students are the same. A good teacher must cater to each person’s individual needs while building a solid foundation, be able to encourage the student while still challenging them just enough so that they can reach their full potential- all while making sure they enjoy the journey.

Lessons

Piano

The piano is one of the most complex, sophisticated and beautiful instruments, as well as one of the most useful. A piano is said to be an entire orchestra in itself. There is a reason why the keyboard is the most vital instrument found in almost every single recording studio and composer station. The piano is also listed as one of the hardest instruments to play; but fear not! With the right instruction anything can be mastered. Did you know that Serena moved to Los Angeles at the age of 17 with a music scholarship for concert piano?

Voice

Music is ultimately therapeutic; It is needed now, more than ever.

Do you or your child love to sing? Are you a secret shower or private car singer who would love to one day be able to sing in front of others?

Music is one of the greatest gifts one can obtain. Music is naturally therapeutic and increases cognitive and motor skills. However, the greatest benefit lies in the pure happiness that it brings. Serena loves passing that gift onto others.

Serena can teach you all of this. All you need is a nudge in the right direction, mixed with some good ol fashioned training and mentor-ship. If you are learning voice, Serena will work with you on pitch accuracy, breathing techniques, power, dynamics, and more. Teacher Serena is all about finding your own unique voice, and loves empowering “closet performers” to break out of their shell with confidence! Start singing immediately!

Vocal Speech & Presentation

Would you like to master the art of public speaking in front of a crowd?

How about conquering the art of media speech, being interviewed, speaking for a YouTube channel, broadcast journalism, or hosting your own show?

Communication is everything. The ability to express yourself is paramount in the world we live in today. Whether it be for the camera, the media, the internet, your own podcast series, being interviewed, giving your own classes, or in front of an audience, Serena will guide you on confidence building, articulation, eloquence, improvisation, the ability to be in the moment, and how to keep your audience engaged. Before you know it, you’ll be mastering the art of speech and presentation.

Did you know that Public Speaking is ranked as the number one fear by the majority of people? 75%, according to the National Institute of Mental Health! For some people this means giving a speech to a large group. However, the fear of public speaking is common even to smaller groups such as classrooms or giving presentations at work, or even to a single person, especially to a person who may evaluate you such as a boss, interviewer, professor, or during oral exams.

Everyone is trying to master the art of speaking/ presenting- but there is no better way than hiring your own professional speaking instructor.
